Isaac Davanzo
Weaving the line between creating and performing music, Davanzo is equally at home performing on stage as he is creating vivid landscapes through his compositions. Guided by innovation on tradition, the power of music, and the beauty of the world, he brings captivating performances and enriching compositions to the modern day.
His works described as “crafty” and “unapologetically fantastical,” Davanzo has always been inspired by the nature of programmatic music to create evocative stories and its ability to immerse the listener in a new world. Stemming from an interest in film and video game music and later becoming a scholar of Richard Wagner’s life and work, Davanzo aims to create enriching works for the trained performer while captivating many audience levels. He has a number of compositions published through Cimarron Music Press, and continues to write music for solo brass, chamber groups, and large ensembles. Most notably, he has contributed and premiered a number of new works for solo tuba and piano. His works have been performed internationally, from America, to Spain, and Korea.
Recently, his piece Tavern Dance for solo tuba was performed at the U.S. Army Band’s 2026 Tuba-Euphonium Workshop by SSG Marc Placencia of the “Pershing’s Own” in a special arrangement with tuba quartet and drumset.
Davanzo’s work with the Pocket Orchestra Series creates pedagogically-focused low brass pieces that train various technical and musical facets of performers at the high school level. His goal is to expand the existing repertoire in that skill bracket to most effectively train college-oriented performers. The pieces all feature pre-recorded orchestral accompaniment tracks which assist in musical style, intonation, and keeping time.
